We have been working with Director Jim Stahl at Twin Oaks to help supply emergency needs at the shelter. We just completed a collection of food and household supplies, including meat and fresh fruit and vegetables plus other supplies over $500. Watch for further notice of future needs.
At our sister church in Commyagua, Honduras has raised almost $1500 for this program, which supplements families who cannot pay full cost of uniforms and school supplies for children to attend school. This helps keep families in their own setting where they are not tempted to emigrate to the US. Some of our children 23 children have graduated and are in college. Watch for further details.
We are continuing our 5 week study group on Wednesdays at 10AM and 7PM using Max Lucado's book "Anxious for Nothing." This study from Paul's letter to the Philippian Christians in the New Testament helps us to deal with the anxieties and uncertainties that challenge us. In this age of change and conflict we need a way to ground our lives so that we can live with confidence and hope in our anxiety-driven culture.
